BUTTE-SILVER BOW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Design Review Consultation Property Owners: Bob Lescantz Property Location: 119 W. Galena Street Date of Construction: 1916 (1954 altered) BSB Historic Resource Survey Findings: intrusive/neutral resource URA Funds/HPTA Involved?: Seeking URA funding Eligible for Local Register?: ? PROPOSED WORK Restore an existing projecting cabinet sign within the historic district. As proposed neon elements and main cabinet of the sign would be refurbished to advertise the “Galena Garage” and associated tenants. The existing 12 x 9 feet sign would be repainted and new neon elements added, including border and sign text. Refer to attached design drawings and site photos for more information. HPO Review/Recommendations: The existing sign, dating from a 1950s auto dealership and repair garage, will be restored in an “Art Deco” manner that reflects its age and historic use of the site. I recommend approval of the scope of work, subject to follow up review by the HPC when final graphics are available.
