Instructions for Updating the Jail Roster on the New BSB Website If you have any questions or problems, contact Online Admin Justin Ringsak at [EMAIL REDACTED] or [PHONE REDACTED]. Step 1: Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc) and navigate to the BSB website. You can do this by directly entering the web address in the very top bar of the browser: co.silverbow.mt.us, bsb-mt.us, or bsb.mt.gov are all valid web addresses for the BSB site. Step 2: Navigate to the Detention Center page. The quickest way to do this is to move your cursor over Services in the main menu bar, and you will see a dropdown menu. Click on Law Enforcement in this dropdown menu as shown below to open the main Law Enforcement page. Click on Detention Center in the menu on the left as shown below to open the Detention Center page. ---PAGE BREAK--- You will see the Jail Roster area near the top left of the screen. You should bookmark or favorite the Detention Center page to return to it more easily the next time you need to update the roster. Step 3: Now that we are on the Detention Center page, we need to sign in to the site to be able to add a new, updated roster. To do this, click the ‘Sign In’ button at the top right of the screen, as shown below. You will be prompted for a username and password. The login info you should use is: Username: bsblaw Password: jailroster2014 For future reference, the email address associated with this user account is [EMAIL REDACTED]. If you’re having problems in later steps, it may also help to check the ‘Keep me signed in’ box beneath the username and password fields, as shown below. ---PAGE BREAK--- Step 4: Now you should be signed in to the site, and viewing the Detention Center page. When you are signed in, you will see that the blue bar at the top of the screen has different options available. Click on Live Edit in the blue bar at the top of the screen, as shown below. The Detention Center page will reload, and you will notice that certain areas of the page will now be highlighted if you move your cursor over them – this is the site’s editing mode. Try not to accidentally click anything you don’t want to edit! Under the Jail Roster area on the right, you will see an option to ‘Add a new file or drag and drop files from your system here’, as shown below. ---PAGE BREAK--- Click on ‘Add a new file or drag and drop files from your system here’, and a pop-up window will open. Drag and drop requires very new web browser software, so it is best not to drag and drop your file. Just click on the ‘Add a new file…’. Step 5: In the pop-up window, you will see a list of folders on the left, as shown below. Click on the Jail Roster folder, as shown below. You will have to scroll down a bit to see it. ---PAGE BREAK--- In the area to the right of the folder list, you will see the file list for your current folder – you will have to scroll back up to see the top of the list. This will include any previously uploaded jail rosters. Now that we are in the Jail Roster folder, click on the Add Document(s) button above the list of folders and files. This will open a new window for adding new files, as shown below. ---PAGE BREAK--- In this window, click Browse and select the Jail Roster file you want to upload from your computer, then click the Upload button at the bottom of the pop-up window. You will see your file upload, which should just take a few seconds. Step 6: On the next screen, we need to enter some very basic info about the file we uploaded. You should type in a Display Name, example: Jail Roster Jan. 14 Morning. Then click the green Add Files button. ---PAGE BREAK--- Step 7: After clicking Add Files, you will again see the pop-up with folders on the left, with the Jail Roster folder currently open, and the list of Jail Roster files on the right, including our newly added Jail Roster file. Click the checkbox just to the left of the new Jail Roster file, then click the green Insert File button above the file list, as shown below. The pop-up windows will close and you will again see only the Jail Roster page – our newly added Jail Roster file will now appear in the Jail Roster area on the right of the page, as shown below. ---PAGE BREAK--- Step 8: To remove the link to the previous Jail Roster, move your cursor over it and you will see a box with an X appear to the right of the link, as shown below. Click that X and the previous roster will be removed from the list, leaving only our new, current Jail Roster. Finally, click the green Save button in the blue bar at the top of the screen, as shown below. ---PAGE BREAK--- You can then sign out of the site by clicking on Law on the right of the blue bar at the top of the screen – this opens a drop down menu where you can click Sign Out, as shown below. That’s it! You can close the web browser.
