Volunteer Position Description: Photographer/Archivist Position Overview: Be a library advocate by providing professional-quality photographs and/or video of library events and creating “stock” photos to aid in publicity and community awareness. Responsibilities • With the Volunteer Coordinator, identify photos needed and/or programs to be photographed. • Get permission from adults, and signed permission slips from parents of minor children, for use of photos in library publicity. • Organize photos for easy retrieval and use by library staff. Benefits and Impact • Use your skills to help us increase community awareness of the library and what it has to offer • Attend interesting and fun events • Develop local community contacts • Enjoy your creativity Training and Support Available • Volunteer orientation • Ongoing training and support from Volunteer Coordinator • Library cameras available for use Desired Qualifications • Demonstrated skill in photography • Good rapport with people • Ability to get to programs and events Requirements • Desire to be a library advocate and serve the Burlington community • Ability to walk, speak, and use a computer without accomodation • Age 17 or above • Instruction in and/or professional photography experience • Friendly, courteous and enthusiastic attitude • Reliability. Staff members and the public count on volunteers! • Photos taken are property of BPL Commitment Requested Six-month commitment of 7 to 9 hours per month. Schedule is variable.
