Volunteer Position Description: Talk Time Coordinator Position Overview: Change lives and share your skills and caring by coordinating a teamof people to present regular sessions of an English/Spanish Talk Time for foreign-language learners in Skagit County. Responsibilities • Help to recruit, train, schedule, and oversee volunteers to promote and facilitate regular Talk Time sessions • Train a co-coordinator, and work together or job-share • Act as backup for absent volunteers • Interact regularly with volunteer coordinator Benefits and Impact • Satisfaction in making a difference in people’s lives • Bring together and celebrate our two biggest racial groups • Engage with people of diverse backgrounds and educational levels • Hone organizational, communication, and facilitation skills Training and Support Available • Volunteer orientation • Staff support in recruiting volunteers and promoting the program Desired Qualifications • Warm, welcoming presence • Experience coodinating volunteers; good person-to-person skills • Experience coordinating and presenting programs to the public • Self-motivation, patience, and positive energy • Bonus skill: bilingual English/Spanish Requirements • Desire to be a library advocate and serve the Burlington community • Computer literacy in e-mail • Physical abilities needed to set up, present, and clean up for programs • Friendly, courteous and enthusiastic attitude • Reliability. Staff members and the public count on volunteers! Commitment Requested Nine-month commitment coordinating Talk Times Schedule is negotiable; evening and/or weekend hours are best for programs.
