Volunteer Position Description: Talk Time Host Position Overview: Change lives and share your skills and caring by conspiring with a teamof people. Scheme with them to creatively promote and present regular sessions of an English/Spanish Talk Time for foreign-language learners in Skagit County. Responsibilities • Promotion can include posting flyers, visiting gatherings to invite people, etc. • Help to plan and prepare, set up the room, welcome participants, model activities, assist with childcare, clean up, and other tasks requested by the Talk Time Emcee Benefits and Impact • Satisfaction in making a difference in people’s lives • Bring together and celebrate our two biggest racial groups • Engage with people of diverse backgrounds and educational levels • Hone organizational, communication, and facilitation skills Training and Support Available • Volunteer orientation • Staff support whenever needed Desired Qualifications • Warm, welcoming presence • Willingness and enthusiasm • Self-motivation, patience, and positive energy • Comfort with email is desired but not required • Bonus skill: bilingual English/Spanish Requirements • Desire to be a library advocate and serve the Burlington community • Reliable transportation to show up as promised • Physical abilities needed to set up, present, and clean up for programs • Friendly, courteous and enthusiastic attitude • Reliability. Staff members and the public count on volunteers! Commitment Requested Nine-month commitment on the Talk Time programteam; minimum of one session per month. Location Burlington Public Library, 820 E.
