Information Technologies Help Desk . We have created an e-mail form for you to use when requesting assistance from the IT Department: To use this form (we suggest saving it to your desktop for easy access) 1. Type in a Short Description of the problem you are having. Printer not working). 2. Here we would like you to give us as much detail as you can. Also, tell us what you have already tried. (Here is an actual work order we received: I cannot get my printer to work. I have tried to turn same off and all fails. The ready light as well as the alarm light keeps blinking. At one point the screen on my computer said it was out of paper, but it was not.) 3. Click the “send” button. Your e-mail is sent to the Help Desk. Here it will be converted into a work order, where all IT Technicians will be able to view it. You will receive an e-mail back from the help desk that looks like this: ---PAGE BREAK--- After you receive this e-mail, you can: 1) Append any additional information by clicking on the first link provided, 2) Request an update on your work order by clicking on the second link, 3) Request an update for all open work orders you may have from the third link. How will this benefit you and the City? The logged work orders are now a searchable database for IT. We can search on similar problems, which can help us to resolve your issue faster. We will be able to see, for example, your printer has numerous work orders associated with it. That will tell us that your printer needs to be replaced, instead of spending man-hours trying to continually fix it. In addition, since all of IT Techs will be able to view the work orders, if one of the Techs is out of the office for the day, another one will be able to help you.
