Assistant Golf Superintendent City of Burley 2025 Assistant Golf Superintendent Department: Golf Reports to: Golf Superintendent Pay Grade 30 Date: 2025 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range $23.00 – 32.57 JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective Under direction of the Golf Course Superintendent to assist in the day-to-day operation of the City’s Golf Course; to plan, organize, direct and work with golf maintenance staff; and to perform other duties as assigned. Essential Functions:  Assists Golf Course Superintendent in scheduling maintenance of turf and equipment,  Oversees Golf Course in the absence of Golf Course Superintendent;  Ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment;  To train equipment operators in the proper methods of mowing;  Train all operators in proper etiquette when working around guests;  Maintain grooming schedule;  Provides landscaping as needed;  Maintains irrigation system in proper working order;  Provides supervision of seasonal personnel;  Provides safety and training for the seasonal employees of the golf department;  Inspects Golf Course to ensure proper maintenance standards;  Works with computerized irrigation system;  Maintenance and mechanical work of turf equipment;  Provides help to Parks department and other departments as needed. Supervisory Responsibility This role manages and supervises seasonal employees of the golf course and is responsible for the coordination of the golf course seasonal crew. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training seasonal employees; planning, assigning and directing work of seasonal employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Demands The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach and pull with hand and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Position Type/ Expect Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Frequent evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Required Education and Experience Equivalent to a High School Diploma Preferred Education and Experience Equivalent to a High School Diploma. Knowledge in turf grass management; turf fertilizers, and experience in general landscaping practices. Golf equipment operation and maintenance. Procurement of goods and services. Plays Golf. A degree in Horticulture. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Knowledge in Horticulture.
