DEMOLITION FOR THE CONTRACT IS TO INCLUDE ONLY ITEMS NOTED FOR SAWCUT AND PATCH FOR THE ASPHALT OR BY NOTE. DO NOT REMOVE ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS ALONG THE WATER ALIGNMENT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE OWNER. 2. THE WIDTHS OF THE SAWCUT FOR THE ASPHALT REPAIRS is 6-FEET. THIS WORK IS BASED ON USING TRENCH BOXES TO KEEP THE ASPHALT REMOVAL AND PATCHING SMALL. 3. THE WIDTH OF BARROW REPAIR IS THE WIDTH OF THE LAND DISTURBED FROM THE FENCE TO THE ASPHALT. FOR BARROW REPAIR, CLEAN WEEDS AND OTHER DEBRIS AS NEEDED FOR CONSTRUCTION AND LEAVE SURFACE SMOOTH AND CLEAN OF DEBRIS. 4. THE WIDTH OF GRASS REPAIR IS THE WIDTH OF GRASS DAMAGED BY THE CONSTRUCTION. AFTER BACKFILLING, PLACE NOT LESS THAN 6-INCHES OF TOPSOIL ON THE DISTURBED AREA AND HYDROSEED. 5. THE WIDTH OF SOD REPAIR IS THE WIDTH OF SOD DAMAGED BY THE CONSTRUCTION. THE REPAIR INCLUDES PLACING NOT LESS THAN 6-INCHES OF TOP SOIL AFTER BACKFILLING AND PLACING SOD SIMILAR TO THE EXISTING SOD. 6. PROJECT REPAIRS ALSO INCLUDE ANY IRRIGATION LINES THAT ARE DAMAGED BY THE CONSTRUCTION. 7. THE AREA OF DISTURBANCE IS LESS THAN ONE ACRE SO A IS NOT REQUIRED. 8. REFER TO THE PLAN AND PROFILE SHEETS FOR MORE DETAILS ON CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING FEATURES AND LIMITS OF REMOVAL. 9. SAWCUT OR WHEEL CUT ASPHALT IN CLEAN NEAT LINES JUST WIDER THAN THE TRENCH WIDTH. ADJUST SAWCUT WIDTH AS NEEDED TO FIT THE TRENCH BOX WIDTH. 10. RETAIN AND PROTECT EXISTING BUILDINGS TO REMAIN INCLUDING ALL FOOTINGS, FOUNDATIONS, AND OVERHANG. 11. RETAIN AND PROTECT ALL WALLS, FENCES, AND OTHER ITEMS ALONG THE CONSTRUCTION ROUTE NOT LISTED FOR DEMOLITION. 12. SEE THE TRAFFIC CONTROL SHEETS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL. THE LIMITS OF THE CHANNELIZATION DEVICES IS BETWEEN THE EDGE OF ASPHALT AND THE FOG LINE. THE REMAINDER OF THE ROAD IS TO BE KEPT OPEN AT ALL TIMES. 13. THE TRENCH IS TO BE BACKFILLED WITH COMPACTED SOIL. REFER TO THE ASPHALT REPAIR SECTION FOR THICKNESS OF ROAD BASE. ADD ADDITIONAL ROAD BASE TO TO THE PAVEMENT AREAS TO KEEP THE DRIVING SURFACE LEVEL. THE ROAD BASE IS TO BE MAINTAINED EVEN WITH THE TOP OF THE ADJACENT ASPHALT AS A TEMPORARY ROAD SURFACE UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE ASPHALT IS PATCHED. 14. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE SERVICES OR DISRUPT THE OPERATION OF ANY BUSINESS OUTSIDE OF THE DEMOLITION LIMITS. 15. COORDINATE WITH HOME OWNERS ALONG THE ROUTE TO ALLOW THEM TO REMOVE VEHICLES AHEAD OF THE CONSTRUCTION. OPEN DRIVES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE WATER MAIN. 16. REMOVE DEBRIS, RUBBISH, AND OTHER MATERIALS RESULTING FROM THE DEMOLITION AND SITE CLEARING OPERATIONS FROM THE SITE AND DISPOSE OF IN A LEGAL MANNER UNLESS DIRECTED OTHERWISE IN THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS. 17. THE LOCATION AND OR ELEVATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS BASED ON THE SURVEY PROVIDED BY THE OWNER AND RECORDS PROVIDED BY THE OWNER INDICATING THE GENERAL LOCATION OF UTILITIES AND WHERE POSSIBLE MEASUREMENTS TAKEN IN THE FIELD. THE INFORMATION IS NOT TO BE RELIED UPON AND BEING EXACT OR COMPLETE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION FOR FIELD LOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO POT HOLE AND LOCATE ALL UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTION OF ALL IN-PLACE AND RELOCATED UTILITIES. 18. WHEN EXCAVATING INSIDE THE WILLIAMS PIPELINE RIGHT OF WAY, NO OPEN TOOTH BUCKETS ARE TO BE USED ONLY A GRADING BUCKET. 19. STOCKPILES SHALL BE GRADED TO MAINTAIN SLOPES NOT GREATER THAN 3:1 HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL. PROVIDE EROSION CONTROL AS NEEDED TO PREVENT SEDIMENT TRANSPORT TO ADJACENT DRAINAGE WAYS. 20. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DISPOSAL OF ALL WASTE MATERIAL. DISPOSAL SHALL BE AT AN APPROVED SITE FOR SUCH MATERIAL. BURNING OR BURYING OF WASTER MATERIAL ONSITE IS NOT PERMITTED. 21. INSTALL TRAFFIC WARNING DEVICES AS NEEDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST EDITION OF THE MUTCD AND LOCAL STANDARDS. SEE THE PROVIDED TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS FOR THE BASIS OF THE TRAFFIC WARNING DEVICES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE ADDITIONAL DEVICES, FLAGGERS, ETC. AS NEEDED TO CONTROL THE TRAFFIC. 22. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL PERMITS NECESSARY FROM CITY, COUNTY, STATE, AND OR FEDERAL AGENCIES AS REQUIRED. GENERAL, TRENCHING, AND COMPACTION NOTES 1. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH BURLEY CITY STANDARDS. 2. CUT AND FILL SLOPES SHALL BE NO STEEPER THAN 1:1 HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL. 3. FILLS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO NOT LESS THAN 95% OF THE MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY OF THE SOIL USED AND WITHIN 2% OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT IN DRIVES AND THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. IN LANDSCAPE AREAS, THE COMPACTION SHALL BE ABOUT 85% OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. 4. IF SOLS ARE TOO WET, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DRY SAID SOILS OR AUGMENT SAID SOILS WITH DRY ROAD BASE TO GET THE MOISTURE CONTENT WITHIN 2% OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE. AUGMENTED SOILS WILL REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL PROCTOR. 4.1. IF THE SOILS ARE TOO DRY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MOISTEN THE SOIL AS NEEDED TO BRING THE MOISTURE TO WITHIN 2% OF OPTIMUM. 5. TRENCH BACKFILL SHALL BE TESTED FOR COMPACTION AS FOLLOWS: 6. 1 TEST ON THE FIRST LIFT OVER THE TOP OF THE PIPE AT NOT MORE THAN 300 FEET SPACING, ONE TEST FOR EACH 18-INCHES OF COMPACTED FILL AT NOT MORE THAN 300 FEET SPACING, 1 TEST AT THE TOP OF SUBGRADE-BOTTOM OF ROAD BASE AT NOT MORE THAN 300 FOOT SPACING, AND 1 TEST AT THE TOP OF ROAD BASE AT NOT MORE THAN 100 FOOT SPACING. 6.1. STAGGER COMPACTION TESTS SO THAT EACH TEST IS NOT WITHIN 50-FEET OF A TEST ON A LOWER LEVEL. 6.2. COMPACTION TESTING WILL BE PAID BY THE CONTRACTOR AS PART OF THE BASE BID. 6.3. PROVIDE COMPACTION TESTING RESULTS TO THE ENGINEER WITHIN 24-HOURS OF THE TESTING. FAILURE TO TEST OR FAILURE TO PROVIDE TESTING RESULTS MAY RESULT IN A GIVEN SECTION OF PIPE BEING REJECTED. 6.4. ANY EXCAVATION AND RE-COMPACTION NEEDED TO RETEST COMPACTION WILL BE PAID BY THE CONTRACTOR. 6.5. ANY RETESTING NEEDED FOR FAILED COMPACTION TESTS IS TO BE PAID BY THE CONTRACTOR. 6.6. THE OWNER MAY ELECT TO HAVE ADDITIONAL COMPACTION TESTS PERFORMED AT THE CITY'S EXPENSE AS PART OF THE CITY'S QA/QC PROGRAM. 6.7. EACH COMPACTION TEST SHALL HAVE A UNIQUE IDENTIFICATION TO ALLOW THE LOCATION OF THE TEST TO BE CORRELATED ON THE PROJECT PLANS. 7. SOIL PROCTOR: 7.1. THE NATIVE SOILS MAY BE USED FOR THE TRENCH BACKFILL. 7.2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN SAMPLES OF THE NATIVE SOIL SO THAT A PROCTOR CAN BE DEVELOPED AND COMPACTION TESTING RESULTS CAN BE COMPARED TO AN APPROPRIATE PROCTOR. 8. EACH COMPACTION TEST SHALL BE ACCOMPANIED WITH A SKETCH SHOWING THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION OF THE TEST, A COPY OF THE PROJECT PLANS MAY BE USED FOR THE SKETCH IF DESIRED. AN ALTERNATE TO THE SKETCH REQUIREMENT WOULD BE TO INCLUDE A GPS COORDINATE AT THE LOCATION OF EACH TEST. THE METHODOLOGY USED TO INDICATE THE LOCATIONS OF THE TESTING WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE CONTRACTOR. 9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE INSPECTIONS & TESTING, AND SUBMIT A COMPLETE REPORT AND MAP UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT. THE REPORT AND MAP SHALL SHOW LOCATIONS WHERE COMPACTION TESTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN WITH A TEST NUMBER OR OTHER IDENTIFYING FEATURE SO THAT THE LOCATION CAN BE CORRELATED WITH THE COMPACTION RESULTS. 10. ALL TESTING IS TO BE PAID BY THE CONTRACTOR 11. DUST SHALL BE CONTROLLED BY WATERING. DO NOT OVER WATER OR SOFTEN THE SOILS OR CAUSE EROSION DUE TO WATERING. 12. THE LOCATION AND PROTECTION OF ALL UTILITIES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. 13. APPROVED PROTECTIVE MEASURES AND TEMPORARY DRAINAGE PROVISION MUST BE USED TO PROTECT ADJOINING DRAINAGE AREAS DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT. 14. TRENCHES ARE TO BE BACKFILLED, COMPACTED, AND TESTED EACH DAY SO THAT ONLY A SMALL HOLE AT THE END OF THE PIPE IS LEFT OPEN OVER NIGHT. FLAGGING, BARRICADES, AND OTHER PROTECTIVE DEVICES ARE TO BE USED TO PROTECT THE HOLE EACH DAY. 15. ALL ROADS MUST BE CLEANED DAILY OF ALL DIRT, MUD, AND DEBRIS DEPOSITED AS A RESULT OF THE CONSTRUCTION. THE CLEANING IS TO BE DONE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY, OWNER, AND ITD. 16. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SHORING IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL EXCAVATION. 17. AS PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, THE OWNER HAS PROVIDED THE CONTRACTOR WITH A TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY PERFORMED BY MANUAL OR AERIAL MEANS. SUCH SURVEY WAS PREPARED FOR PROJECT DESIGN PURPOSES AND IS PROVIDED TO THE CONTRACTOR AS A COURTESY.
