Memorandum of Understanding Topic: City of Burley Rules and Guidelines for providing content on the Internet/Intranet pages. Carol, Brent, or Bryan must review all pages for ADA compliance. General ADA compliance requirements: 1. All photos or images must contain a 5 to 6 word description of the image. 2. Text contained in a pdf file must be selectable when displayed on the web page. This is a test you can perform to make sure your PDF file is ADA compliant with text “readers” 3. HTML is better than a PDF in terms of accessibility. Whenever possible include text as part of the webpage and not an attached PDF file. Links ADA Much like your website additions, the files you link to should be ADA compliant too. While it takes extra work, taking the additional time to make files compliant moves you closer to a smooth experience for your viewer. Images and Photos 1. All photos or images must contain a 5 to 6 word description of the image. 2. Minimum Size shall be 800x600. ---PAGE BREAK--- Documents (PDF, Word, Excel, etc) Links in general Linked photos, documents, forms, and any content that is owned by the City of Burley shall be opened in the current “window”. Opening in a new window shall only be used when you are linking to an outside webpage or document. Links that do open in a new webpage must be identified as so a text reader can identify it for the user for example: Click here to get more information about the Cassia County Sheriff (opens in a new window) News Flash Scheduled Events or non­scheduled events that only impact a small portion of the population All News Flash announcements must include a start date and an end date – No exceptions Schedule Events: a.
