Farming Bids 2020 The City of Burley will accept bids from interested individuals to lease irrigated farming property owned by the City of Burley. The City of Burley expects to execute a five-year lease with the individual or individuals who submit the successful bid. The property consists of approximately 73 acres shown on Attachment A. The access to this property is off 100 South at approximately 100 East as shown on the attachment. The lessee will be responsible for any electrical charges for applying water at this site, irrigation systems and any fees associated with Burley Irrigation District assessments for the property. All interested individuals must submit a written bid to the City of Burley for farming operations of the property. The bid shall include at a minimum: 1. The amount to be paid to the City for the lease, broken down by year and payments; and 2. The proposed crop rotation; 3. Financial ability to support the lease (a bank letter of credit is preferred). 4. Any improvements made to the property during the next five years. Other Requirements 1. The individual or individuals who submit the successful BID will be required to maintain insurance meeting City of Burley standards. 2. The individual or individuals who submit the successful Bid will be required to sign a written lease in a form approved by the City of Burley Attorney and City Council. 3. No Bid may be withdrawn within a period of 30 days after the date fixed for opening Bids. The City of Burley reserves the right to reject any or all bids; to waive informalities or to accept the proposal of the best responsible bidder; to postpone the award of the contract for a period not to exceed 30 days; and to accept such proposals as are in the best interest of the City of Burley. Bid opening: Sealed bids shall be addressed to the City of Burley, Idaho and shall be labeled “Nielsen Farm” bid on the cover envelope. 5. The City of Burley may terminate the lease at the end of any year without penalty. Bids must be received by the City of Burley no later than 5 p.m. December 10, 2020 to be eligible for consideration.
