Pool Manager City of Burley February 2020 Swimming Pool Manager Department: Parks Reports to: Golf/Parks Superintendent Pay Grade Date: February 2020 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range $ JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective Responsibilities include but are not limited to enforcing policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and effective operation of pool facilities including personnel management and training. Duties involve all swimming pool operations, including first aid, rotations, scheduling for staff, public relations, janitorial duties, daily chemical analysis/testing, pool cleaning, cleaning of bathrooms and concession stand area, swim lessons, water aerobics and all other duties as necessary or required. This employee should have excellent organizational, communication, and public relation skills. This is a working supervisory position requiring weekend and evening work. Essential Functions: ▪ Prepare all work schedules for employees making sure the manager or head lifeguard is on duty at all times the pool is open ▪ Chemical analysis and application ▪ Ensure hourly employees work no more than 40 hours per week ▪ Report hours, days, and time worked for all employees under direct supervision ▪ Check all timecards for accuracy and submit timecards to be paid ▪ Ensure employees under direct supervision are properly trained in their duties ▪ Hold training and safety meetings for all employees ▪ Track pool attendance, balance cash drawer, and bring money to the city office for deposit ▪ Ensure proper operating condition of all equipment ▪ Ensure that all employees are properly trained in first aid ▪ Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks ▪ Maintain discipline at the swimming pool facility and enforce staff policies and rules ▪ Enforce the City of Burley swimming pool rules and regulations ▪ Maintain positive public relations ▪ Document and report all disciplinary problems and accidents to the Supervisor and HR manager ▪ Maintain a clean facility ▪ Set a positive example ▪ Inform Supervisor when supplies are needed and if equipment needs repaired ▪ The ability to communicate verbally as well as written to the employees and the public ▪ Other duties as deemed necessary or as required Competencies: 1. First Aid Certification Supervisory Responsibility This role manages and supervises seasonal employees at the pool and is responsible for the coordination of the pools seasonal crew. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training seasonal employees; planning, assigning and directing work of seasonal employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. ---PAGE BREAK--- Pool Manager City of Burley February 2020 Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Demands The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach and pull with hand and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, twist, bend and kneel. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must regularly climb in and out of the swimming pool, going up and down ladders. Position Type/ Expect Hours of Work This is Seasonal Full-Time Position. Days and hours of work fluctuate depending on pool schedule. Frequent evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Required Education and Experience Equivalent to a High School Diploma. Must have Lifeguard Training Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification. Supervisory experience and experience in handling multiple assignments a plus. Must possess a valid Idaho driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Preferred Education and Training Equivalent to a High School Diploma. Must have Lifeguard Training Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification. Supervisory experience and experience in handling multiple assignments a plus. The ability to do some accounting. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Knowledge Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid Certification.
