Crime Free Multi-Housing The Broomfield Police Department works to build partnerships with the community to solve problems, including in rental-based housing areas. The approach to preventing crime in the multi-housing areas of Broomfield is no different than in residential blocks, except that the landlord, manager, or owner of multi-family unit plays an integral part in working together with tenants to fight crime. In multi-family units, tenants need to report suspicious behavior to the police and to their landlord. Sometimes criminal activity is not discovered until the problem becomes extreme. Some people – tenants and homeowners alike – are frightened to report illegal activity until they discover the "strength in numbers" of joining a community watch organization. Whether you call your efforts "apartment watch," "community pride," or "resident retention programs," the goal is the same: transforming a multi-housing complex into a safe community. The Broomfield Police Department helps with the training and protection of tenants and landlords alike to enhance the sense of community and belonging, and developing neighbors who are more willing to do what it takes to keep their neighborhood safe and healthy.
