TO: PARMLY BILLINGS LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: LESLIE MODROW, FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RE: FOUNDATION REPORT MEETING DATE: August 14, 2008 • Bill Cochran, Bruce Whittenberg and Leslie Modrow met with Humanities Montana Executive Director, Mark Sherouse to discuss and finalize details for “Can We Talk?” This will be a civic dialogue training led by Pat Hughes, author of Gracious Space. This all day event will be followed up with smaller community café gatherings, plus book discussion and guest author presentations. The Foundation will help coordinate activities and funding requests. The date has been set for January 30, 2009 • Attending meetings surrounding civic lecture series and activities • Community Outreach Committee has been re-organized and will be focused on the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary, “Can We Talk?” and Lunch at the Library. • I attended interesting and informative presentation on “Strategy behind successful efforts to pass a mill levy” by Doug Mitchell from the Mitchell Group. This Helena based organization is a “communication company that assist nonprofit groups effectively impact public policy.” • Foundation will not be having an August meeting and their September meeting has been changed to Sept 23 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for a condensed board retreat.
