TO: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY THROUGH: PARMLY BILLINGS LIBRARY BOARD FROM: BILL COCHRAN, LIBRARY DIRECTOR JIM PETERS, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RE: REQUEST FOR FUNDING MEETING DATE: JULY 8, 2009 REQUEST Staff recommends requesting $150 from the Friends of the Library to sponsor a public program by Ron Garritson on Plains Indian sign language on August 18, 2009. BACKGROUND Mr. Garriston is a guide at Pompey’s Pillar and is also an expert in Plains Indian sign language and an honorary member of the Crow Tribe. He presented a similar program sponsored by the Friends three years ago that was very well attended.
