TO: PARMLY BILLINGS LIBRARY BOARD MEMBERS FROM: NICKI BROCH, PRESIDENT, FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY RE: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 10, 2009 Sale scheduled for Thurs through Saturday, no Sunday sales...10/15 - 10/17. 10/15 - 6-8:30 Members only Annual Meeting 10/16 & 10/17 - 10 - 4:30 Open to the Public We will stop taking donations as of 10/1/09 because we have inundated with books. The sorters are overwhelmed and need to use the two weeks to get the sale room in order. $2000.00 was donated to the Billings Education Foundation for their Reading Rocks program in the parks this summer. It was designated for purchase of books to be given to middle school children who participated in the program. The Ed. Found. reports a smashing success and will be making a report to the FOL at their board meeting on 9/9/09. We have approved gifts to two of our volunteers, Bill Rightmire and Gary Hinrichs. These two men are at the library almost every day and have contributed mightily to the success of our operation. Bill has done the construction on most of the new shelving and overseen installation of new light fixtures. Gary has been responsible for the Friends Free Bins in the Lobby and has helped with sorting and maintaining equipment and inventory. They are invaluable. The FOL has made a contribution for the annual appearance of the MT Rep Theatre performance which will take place in October.
