TO: PARMLY BILLINGS LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: LESLIE MODROW, FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RE: FOUNDATION REPORT MEETING DATE: MAY 8, 2008 • Food for Thought, An Evening of Great Conversation will be May 29 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The City has approved the early closing of the Library and we are currently working with the City Attorney on Liability Insurance. Tickets are $65 made payable to the Parmly Billings Library Foundation. See the Library website for Topic descriptions and Table Hosts. Tables are already filling up! • The new Digital Media Center has been finalized and ordered. This will include one large screen television, DVD player and cart for the Children’s area. A projector and all necessary equipment for projector, which will be mounted on ceiling of the 3rd floor. We will also be purchasing a portable podium with sound system and all necessary equipment; permanent speakers will be installed on the 3rd floor with the necessary equipment to enhance the sound for presentations, events and features. A screen will be “painted” on the wall of the 3rd floor for better visual effects of presentations. • Foundation has been notified that Conoco Phillips will underwrite a portion of the costs for the suggested Summer Reading List flier. The Foundation will also be contributing a percentage of the printing costs to ensure that more students will receive this popular item. The list will be distributed to School District 2 via courier, Billings Catholic Schools, Trinity Lutheran and Lockwood School. We will try to get extra copies to Elder Grove and Canyon Creek Schools. • 2008-2009 Foundation Board Slate has been approved: President: Kim Olsen Immediate Past President: Norma Buchanan Vice President: Evelyn Noennig Treasurer: Joanne Sheridan Secretary: Cara Schaer • 2008-2009 Budget has been approved with the newly approved distribution policy in effect. Per distribution policy, the Foundation will now be making a 2% annual distribution to the Library.
