TO: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOARD, THROUGH PARMLY BILLINGS LIBRARY BOARD FROM: JIM PETERS, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RE: FUNDING REQUESTS MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 13, 2008 REQUEST Library staff is recommending that requests be made to the Friends of the Library to fund the following 2 programs: • $100 honorarium to Gabriel Farago, who will present a program titled Succeeding in the Music Industry on Tuesday, December 2nd. • $100 honorarium to the Big Sky Chorus, which will perform holiday songs on Saturday, December 13th. BACKGROUND Gabriel Farago is an author and producer of country music who is touring libraries and presenting a program on getting started in the music business. The honorarium he is asking for will cover his expenses to come to Billings from appearances at two libraries in Wyoming. The Big Sky Chorus has presented their Celebration of Holiday Songs for many years to large audiences. The Friends of the Library have always sponsored this performance and paid them a small honorarium.
