The Big Horn County Library contracts with each patron: the Library agrees to lend books and/or other materials free of charge to any resident of Big Horn County who agrees to return the books and/or materials at the end of a fourteen (14) day loan period. When patrons fail to honor this contract it is the policy of the Trustees of the Library to charge a fine. This policy has been in effect since the Library began lending books in 1910. Failure to return an item on/or before the end of the fourteen (14) day loan period will result in the levy of a fine. It is your responsibility to return the items you borrow on or before the date due marked on each item. The Library has no obligation to notify patrons of overdue materials but does so as a courtesy to our patrons. Overdue items left in the outside book drop will still incur a fine. Library fines: $ .10 (ten cents) per day for each item. The maximum fine total is $5.00 (five) dollars per item. Patrons with outstanding fines or items will not be allowed to check out more materials until their record is cleared. The charge for any lost item is $35.00.
