Library Laptop & Tablet Policy and Agreement Page 1 of 2 Approved by Board of Trustees : 05/23/23 Reviewed by Library Staff: May 2023 106 N BROADWAY BELGRADE, MT 59714 (406)388-4346 www.belgradelibrary.org LIBRARY LAPTOP & TABLET POLICY Any patron with a Belgrade Community Library (or BridgerNet) card in good standing (not expired and fines not exceeding $10.00) may check out a laptop computer or tablet using a current photo ID and library card matching the name on the ID (the ID and library card will be held at the Public Services Desk while the laptop/tablet is checked out). Laptop/tablet use is restricted to the main floor of the Library. They may not be taken into the restrooms. Laptops/tablets may be checked out for two consecutive hours. They may not be renewed. Laptops/tablets are available during Library open hours. They should be returned to the Public Services Desk fifteen minutes before the library closes. Laptops/tablets cannot be borrowed within 30 minutes of closing time. A current, signed Library Laptop/Tablet Loan Agreement must be on file at the Public Services Desk prior to use. The borrower who checks out the laptop/tablet is responsible for damage until the laptop/tablet is returned to the Public Services Desk. Patrons may not leave the laptop/tablet unattended. If patrons must exit the Library while the laptop/tablet is checked out to them, the laptop/tablet must be left with a Library staff member at the Public Services Desk. The Library is not responsible for any lost files, nor will any files be saved on the hard drive. Laptops/tablets must be handed directly to a Library staff member when returned. I will reimburse Belgrade Community Library for the cost of repairing or replacing this laptop/tablet or accessories if they are damaged or lost while checked out in my name. • I agree to comply with Belgrade Community Library’s rules regarding computer use. • I understand that the circulation period is two hours or less, depending on the time the laptop/tablet is checked out. • I agree to pay $1.00 per hour overdue fees, if I do not return the loaned laptop/tablet within the 2-hour circulation period. • I will not download or copy software to the laptop/tablet, nor deliberately attempt to modify the laptop/tablet in any harmful or malicious way. • I will not remove the laptop/tablet from the main floor of the Belgrade Community Library. I agree that I will lose my laptop/tablet borrowing privileges if I attempt to exit the building with a Library laptop/tablet. A BORROWED LAPTOP/TABLET IS FOR LIBRARY USE ONLY. DO NOT LEAVE THE LAPTOP/TABLET UNATTENDED. Your signature below indicates that you recognize your responsibility in the care and custody of any laptop/tablet you borrow from Belgrade Community Library. This form expires December 31 each year.
