For those who are new to the Belgrade Senior Center, this is the time of year I wax eloquently about how much I love Fall and for those who have heard it all before, your about to hear it again! How absolutely stunning you are Autumn, with your vivid dis- play of colors and your indecisive nature that always keeps us guessing what attire we should wear. Will you give us a sunny, warm summery day or will you throw a little chill, wind or rain into the mix? Will you deceive us into believing that Summer is still with us or will you stick your beautiful, colorful lip out and throw a “temperature” tantrum that make us believe the stark reality that win- ter is truly on its way. All I know is that I will enjoy every moment of whatever you decide to toss our way! ---PAGE BREAK--- It’s Just the Way Things Go Sometimes! What do butterflies and pancakes have in common? Well, not much unless you subscribe to the butterfly effect which holds to the idea that one choice can have big consequences! Dave and I got married on September 1, 1985, thus starting the “butterfly effect!” This year, we are celebrating our 40-year anniversary by going on a 2-week cruise up the eastern coast of the USA into Canada and fulfilling a couple bucket list items as we go! We will be visiting Prince Edward Island and taking an Anne of Green Gables excur- sion. I have loved Anne for a long time, and I can’t wait to explore this area of inspiration! Dave has always dreamt of visiting Citi Field, home of his beloved Mets (although with the way they have been playing lately, he has threatened to sell our tickets numerous times!) Here is the big consequence I spoke of earlier. We had planned our trip around the Fall Festival which was originally scheduled for September 28th. We would be home in plenty of time to flip pancakes, make a float and cook lunch for 1000 plus people! We were geared up, excited, ready to serve the Belgrade community! Then low and behold, they moved the Fall Festival to September 13th—right smack dab in the mid- dle of our trip! We have thought and thought about how to move forward, coming to the realization that this might be a blessing in disguise. For one thing, the pancake breakfast has grown significantly over the years and if we are honest, it has outgrown our dear little center. The last several years we have spent much of the time fixing flipped breakers, trying to keep up with all the pancakes on a far too small grill and rushing people in and out just to make room for the long line of hungry folks hoping to devour a pile of pancakes before heading to the parade. After much deliberation we made the decision to graciously bequeath the Pancake Breakfast to the ProStart Culinary group from the Belgrade High School. They will be taking the reins and moving this long tradition to the high school. Watch for more information on this! At this time, the city is not plan- ning on serving a lunch so it looks like our little Center, although the very hub of all the Fall Festival activities, will be sitting empty. We do need help with the float. Daneen will head this up, but she will not be doing all the decorating so if this is something that would de- light your very soul, talk with her! We will also need people to ride on it during the parade! Give us a call and let us know if you can help! ---PAGE BREAK--- Daily Activities at the Senior Center Mon: 9:00 Full Body Workout* 9:30 Line Dancing 12:30 Pinochle 1:00 Mahjong (**Call for information) Tues: 8:30 Walking Group 9:00 Full Body Workout* 10:30 Property Tax Rebate 9:45 Ukulele Group 1:00 Beginner Line Dance Wed: 10:30 Bingo 1:00 Zumba Thurs: 8:30 Walking Group 9:00 Full Body Workout* 10:15 Open Dance 10:30 Ball Room Dance 11:30 Sing Along Fri: 9:00 Full Body Workout* 9:00 Needleaires 9:30 Arts & Crafts *Quaw Gym Fireside Book Club September 5, 2025 1:00 PM September Birthday Lunch September 17, 2025 Activities Fall Festival September 13, 2025 NO BREAKFAST CLUB September Word Scramble taervsh__________ crhorad__________ ceraeht__________ asertew__________ niuqoxe__________ loalbtof_________ autumn, school, leaves, harvest, apples, pumpkin, cooler, backpack, crisp, orchard, jacket, teacher, sweater, equinox, football, rake, mums, acorns, notebook Yogo has been cancelled until further notice. You may have noticed I’ve been promoting a lot of park activities lately — and there’s a good reason! While the Senior Center is part of the City of Belgrade, it actually operates under the Belgrade Regional Parks, Trails, and Recreation Dis- trict This district was established by a community vote a couple of years ago, and residents were eager to start seeing more happening in our parks. With the district currently in the process of hiring a Park Director, I offered to help plan activities that would bring Belgrade folks out into our parks and open spaces. Since then, we’ve had an exciting variety of events — from music in the park and the Farmers Market to fun workshops for the kids! You’ll find activi- ties listed on the back page, but one you won’t want to miss is an evening of great country music with Leavin Page Town. Pack a picnic, bring your lawn chair, and join us for a memorable They have a great story! Read about by visiting: Building Update I also wanted to take this opportunity to give you an update on the Senior Cen- ter moving to Heck/Quaw School but there is absolutely NO update to give. There are no plans, no assigned building set aside for us and no dates on the cal- endar to make our move. Please help keep the rumors from spreading by pass- ing this information on when you hear anything other than this. Sudoku ---PAGE BREAK--- All Kinds of Tax Help! Thanks to HB0830 (2023), you can now apply to make seven payments on your property taxes instead of two. I have includ- ed the application to request this payment plan. It is due by Sep- tember 30, 2025. You can find additional information at I emailed with Jeff Green from the County Treasurer’s Office and here are some points from him to consider before applying: • Auto-pay adds per payment, so total fees are higher than paying twice. • More frequent payments mean more checks or visits to the office. (Plus you have to remember to do this each month) • Changes in ownership or banking can cause issues. Overall, this plan works well for many taxpayers, but weigh the pros and cons be- fore applying. Jeff Green is available to answer questions. Call him at [PHONE REDACTED] or email him at [EMAIL REDACTED]. From Google AI Since Dave and I are hitting the high seas, I thought it might be inter- esting to look at the cruising industry! Even if you are a seasoned sailor, there might a few things you didn’t know! Early 1800s: Passenger ships were primarily for transport. Howev- er, companies like the Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company began offer- ing leisure travel. 1844: P&O introduced the first advertised "pleasure cruises" to the Mediterranean. 1900: The Hamburg-America Line (HAPAG) launched the Prinzessin Victoria Luise. It was the first ship designed for leisure cruising, offering exclusively first-class cabins. Early 1900s - 1950s (Golden Age of Ocean Liners): Luxury ocean liners, such as the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, became synonymous with transatlantic travel and opulence offering swimming pools, à la carte restaurants, and lifts. World War I & II: Many ocean liners were repurposed for military transport. 1950s: Air travel became more affordable and efficient for transatlantic crossings, lead- ing to a decline in traditional ocean liner travel. Post-War Era: Cruise lines pivoted, marketing ships as destinations and emphasizing the "fun" experience of a pleasure tour. 1960s & 1970s: Modern cruise lines like Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean were founded, offering round-trip voyages to warm climates. 1977: The TV show "The Love Boat," set on a Princess Cruises ship, significantly boosted cruising's popularity. 1980s & 1990s (Cruise Boom): The industry rapidly expanded with the launch of larger, more entertainment-focused ships. Ships began featuring multiple dining venues, pools, and extensive entertainment options, making cruising more accessible and afford- able. 1977: Norwegian Cruise Line pioneered the concept of private islands by purchasing and developing Great Stirrup Cay for its passengers. 1999: Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas marked a new era in size and amenities, boasting a rock-climbing wall and ice-skating rink. 2000s: Norwegian introduced "Freestyle Cruising," offering flexible dining and relaxed dress codes. Celebrity chef restaurants became a staple on many cruise lines. 2008: Royal Caribbean premiered the first Broadway musical at sea on its Oasis of the Seas. 2010s - Present: Cruising diversified to include expeditions and ultra-luxurious experiences. Technological advancements enhanced the passenger experience with seamless connectivity, AI-driven personalization, and smart cabins. ---PAGE BREAK--- ---PAGE BREAK--- Painting in the Park with Wendy Marquis Join Wendy Marquis for a FREE Relaxed Outdoor Painting Class Sunday, September 7th,1:00 I Askin Park, Bozeman Step-by-step style outdoors—with the Bridger Mountains as the inspiration and backdrop.
