Domestic Water, Fire, & Sanitary Sewer Service Inspection & Testing Processes Referenced Standards Domestic Water & Sanitary Sewer Service Common Processes  City of Belgrade Design Standards & Specifications (DSS)  City of Belgrade Modifications to the Montana Public Works Standard Specifications  City of Belgrade Fire Service Line Standards (Appendix A of DSS)  On the Web: mt-belgrade.civicplus.com/Archive.aspx?AMID=42  Uniform Plumbing Code  Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) Circulars  On the Web: deq.mt.gov/water/resources  Domestic water and sewer services must be visually inspected by the City of Belgrade.  Domestic water and sewer services must be pressure tested under the Uniform Plumbing Code.  Pressure tests are witnessed by the City of Belgrade Engineering Department.  Call (406) 388-3570 to schedule water/sewer inspections. Sanitary Sewer Services  Sewer services are pressure tested with air at 5 pounds per square inch (psi) for a minimum duration of 5 minutes.  Gauge must be in a safe area for the inspector. Domestic Water Services  Domestic water services are pressure tested with air at 50 psi for a minimum duration of 15 minutes.  Gauge must be in a safe area for the inspector.  Ensure curb stand is at final grade to be turned on.  Contractor will have to adjust or repair the curb stand if it is damaged, not an approved manufacturer, or at final grade before final water turn on is conducted.  Domestic water services must have a passing bacteriological test (Bac-T) before turn on.  Call the Public Works Department to schedule Bac-T at (406) 388-3566.  The Contractor is responsible for providing sample bottles and taking the sample.  Water operators will turn on the curb stop and seal the bottle after the sample has been collected. It is the contractor’s responsibility to drop the bottle off at the lab.  Upon successful completion of Bac-T and pressure testing, call the City of Belgrade Meter Technician to schedule the final water turn on at (406) 388-3549.  Meter wire must be connected to the meter and run to the front of the building three to five feet above ground level.  Wire must be 18-gauge 3 wire.  Meter Technician will install radio reader. Fire Services  All fire service lines not installed by the City of Belgrade Public Works Department shall be designed, inspected (full-time), and certified by a Professional Engineer.  Fire service pressure tests do not need to be witnessed by the City of Belgrade Engineering Department.  Central Valley Fire District must be present and witness all fire service line full flush tests.
