Safe Community Remembrance Ceremony for Officer Dillon Vakoff September 11 is the anniversary of Dillon’s passing. At 9 a.m. in the City Hall Atrium, there will be a short ceremony to remember Dillon. The Arvada Police Department uniform pin designed in his honor will be unveiled. All are welcome. The Arvada Employee Appreciation Fall Carnival is coming soon! Please join us on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Clear Creek Valley Park (3700 W 58th Place) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A big thank you to CMO for allowing the closure of City Hall during this time (with the exception of PD). Festivities include a wide variety of carnival games, food trucks, music, a live comedian, and the presentation of longevity awards. And don’t forget the treats! Complete with popcorn, sno-cones and cotton candy! We look forward to seeing you all there and celebrating all our organization has accomplished this year. Read the following important information to help us have the best event possible: ● Please bring camping chairs or picnic blankets if you can as seating will be limited. ● There will be soda available, but please bring a water bottle if you would like water. ● We will not be preparing/delivering meals for this event. Teams that are not able to attend are welcome to send a representative to pick up to-go meals from the food trucks. ● Parking is available in both the east and west lots, however, the lots are small so parking is still limited. There will be three zero waste stations at the event and staff directing where to dispose of all waste. Many of your peers will be attending their NASCAR Basecamp meetings over the next several weeks. These kick-off meetings represent an exciting time for clarifying the conditions of the racetrack ahead. In these meetings, the project team will: ● Review current and future system workflows for Finance, which will help to identify needed process improvements. ● Begin building system interface integrations, which will allow different software systems to seamlessly communicate and share information with Workday (our new enterprise resource planning tool). ● Begin working on data migration by first understanding how data is organized in the new Workday system and in Oracle (our current enterprise work planning tool). What does this current project phase mean for you? Please use an abundance of patience, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills to help limit the demands on NASCAR project team members. In the coming weeks, more specific information will be shared about what services may be impacted by this shift in the workload. In the meantime, cheer on your team members who are supporting this project (you can easily spot them in their black and white racing lanyards) and provide some extra leeway in your finance-related work requests. Vibrant Community & Neighborhoods Work System Watch Monsters, Inc. this Friday at Forest Springs Park The Arvada Festivals Commission is hosting its final Movies Around Town event of the year this Friday, Sept. 8, at Forest Springs Park (6650 Kendrick Dr.). Monsters, Inc., the winner of this year’s People’s Choice Movie Poll, will be shown on a giant inflatable screen starting at 8:30 p.m. Be sure to get there early for some live music featuring Hunter Lepi at 7:30. Majestic View Nature Center is seeking volunteer group leaders for Saturday., Sept. 23 The City of Arvada is partnering with Jeffco Open Space, Adams County, and the Cities of Wheat Ridge and Golden for this year’s National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23. We’ll have four locations in the City of Arvada along the Ralston Creek bike path where volunteers will be cleaning up trash and removing invasive species. Each volunteer group will be led by a City employee who will go over safety protocol, hand out supplies, and greet participants when they arrive. If you’re interested in being a group leader for one of the four COA locations, please contact Jessica Colby at Majestic View Nature Center for more information. The projects will run from 8 (or 8:30, depending on location) to 10:30 am and will be followed by a celebration with food trucks and drinks provided.
