WEEKLY BRIEFS City of Arvada internal news Jan. 2, 2023 Welcome new City team members! Orientation is back in-person! After two years of Zoom orientation, Human Resources welcomed 17 new hires in the City’s Jan. 2023 in-person New Hire Orientation. During orientation, new hires are introduced to various departments (such as the City Manager's Office) and current and emerging projects. They also learn about our Council form of government, Risk Management, IT security and more. Congratulations to our new hires on completing orientation and joining the City team! Final weekend to recycle your Christmas Tree Time is running out to recycle your Christmas tree! The City’s free – and only – drop-off site this year is at Stenger Sports Complex 58th Ave. & Oak St.). Trees may be dropped off daily between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The final day to drop off trees is Monday, Jan. 16. Mulch is available free of charge at the drop-off site while supplies last. Residents are responsible for loading and hauling mulch. Note: The Lake Arbor location is not accepting trees this year. Email your news to ---PAGE BREAK--- Organizational Service Effectiveness Work System Sign up for Fidelity phone appointments on Jan. 10 and 11 Sam Casad from Fidelity will be holding 30-minute phone appointments this month on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and Wednesday, Jan. 11. Any participant from ANY of our City retirement plans can sign up for one of these appointments. All appointments are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. Please use the links below to access sign up sheets for these appointments. When signing up, please provide your name and a phone number for Sam to call you. On the sign up sheet, you will also see 5 additional alternate spots listed as well. These alternates will only be contacted if Sam has extra time during the day, or if he cannot reach someone who had signed up. He will call those people in the order they are signed up. Email your news to ---PAGE BREAK--- School zone and construction zone safety reminder Students return to classes on Thursday, Dec. 5 across Arvada’s Jeffco schools. Please remember to drive the speed limit through school zones and use extra caution near construction zones. Both Ralston Road and W. 72nd Avenue have schools in close proximity and see additional pedestrian traffic when school is in session. Community and Economic Development Work System New Manager of Communications and Marketing The City Manager’s Office recently hired Liz Johnson to serve as the new Manager of Communications and Marketing for the Community and Economic Development (CED) work system. Liz brings 15 years of integrated marketing and communications experience to the team from industries including healthcare, tourism and higher education.
