ARVADA TEAM CITY COUNCIL FOCUS GROUPS PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT The project team engaged Arvada team members through informational interview s and a review of draft deliverables. These efforts connected CASP strategies with the delivery of city services and highlighted ongoing sustainability efforts and challenges in Arvada that may relate to the CASP. City Council updates were provided at CASP project milestones: April 22, 2024: Introduced the project timeline and engagement plan. July 22, 2024: Reviewed the results of GHG emissions inventories and updates on publi c engagement efforts and outcomes. September 16, 2024: Reviewed the initial list of strategies and criteria considered in the plan. December 9, 2024: Present the Draft CASP A focus group comprised of passionate and experienced community members was key i n the plan’s development. The focus gro up suggested strategies, offered expertise, and provided a deeper understanding of the community view of Arvada's u nique positioning in the context of climate action and sustainability. The group met in a series of five project workshops to support the development of the plan’s Vision Statement and Guiding Principles and to create and prioritize strategies. . The group included energy experts, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, the Arvad a Sustainability Advisory Committe e, transportation professionals, mental hea lth advocates, and environmental consultants. Arvada community members were engaged in a variety of ways – both in -person and online – to ensure th e community vision was represente d. This included attending public eve nts like Arvada on Tap, Foster Dual Language School’s Fall Carnival , the Arvada Kite Festival, and more. P roject engagement was also co nducted online through Speak Up Arv ada, the Arvada Sustainability e-ne wsletter, and a project page on the city’s website .
