Their first priority is to clear snow so kids can safely walk to school. You can also visit the City website to learn more about the City’s priority routes for snow and ice control. Equal Pay Day March 14 is Equal Pay Day, a day which acknowledges the number of days the average median woman must work into the new year to earn the same amount as the average median man earned the year before. The City of Arvada is proud of the efforts in place to ensure equal pay for equal work! If you have any questions about equal pay at the City, don’t hesitate to reach out to HR Compensation Analyst Rachel Bramblett at [EMAIL REDACTED]. Total Rewards is the term we use to describe all of the elements of rewards that employees receive in exchange for their contribution to an organization, such as pay, benefits, wellbeing and professional development. Last spring, many of you completed the Employee Total Rewards Survey and told us what rewards you value most. Highlights included retirement, competitive pay, paid time off, health care and flexible work. View the complete survey to learn more. The Human Resources team also completed a comprehensive market benchmarking survey that measured how the City of Arvada’s total rewards compare to other similar employers, with a focus on what our team members told us they valued most. Results indicated that we were very competitive with our pay programs, our health care and wellbeing programs, and paid leave. Opportunities to explore included performance-based pay, a retirement contribution match and paid family leave. City leadership met several times throughout 2022 to discuss the results of these two surveys, and to agree on an updated Total Rewards Philosophy that would sustain our top workplace culture and meet the needs of our current and future workforce. With the City Council’s support, the newly updated philosophy is now ready for implementation. View the City’s Total Rewards Philosophy to learn more. Going forward, the City’s updated Total Rewards Philosophy will guide decisions for how to develop and deliver reward programs to our team members in the future. We will continue to prioritize competitive pay, health care and retirement benefits and work to develop new programs based on employee feedback and market benchmarks and best practices. We are currently working on creating a paid family and medical leave benefit for our employees to be implemented in 2024. Stay tuned to your Weekly Briefs for more updates and information! If you have any questions, please contact Gabriella Bommer, Director of Human Resources, at [EMAIL REDACTED]. If you are a member of the City's CARP Retirement Program, keep an eye out on your March 24, 2023 pay stub for an additional contribution If you are a member of the City of Arvada Retirement Program (CARP), please be aware that on March 24, 2023, active CARP members will see an additional contribution to their account. This contribution will be included on your paystub under "ER CARP Retire" and your Fidelity account for review. This is due to a forfeiture in the program that is created when employees leave the organization before they are fully vested. (Remember, you vest 20% per year on the City of Arvada's employer contributions until you reach 100%). The forfeitures accumulate over time and once they reach an agreed upon level, are dispersed to active CARP members. Watch this video to listen to Finance Director Bryan Archer explain the process.
