WEEKLY BRIEFS City of Arvada internal news August 7, 2023 Thank you for joining us at the Mission, Vision, Values Food Truck Event On August 3, the City team celebrated 7 years of passion, opportunity, and innovation at our MVV (Mission, Vision, and Values) Food Truck Event! We want to say a particular thank you to the event setup and clean up crews, including the Parks team, the Facilities Team, the Festivals Team, the Communications and Engagement Team, the Arvada PD’s new recruits, the Employee Committee, and the food truck vendors. We want to give a special shout-out to the events sub-committee of the Employee Committee, who ordered compostable goods and hired Scraps to help us implement a zero-waste event. There were also many individual City team members who helped plan and implement this event. This event was truly a team effort, and we are grateful for the work of every person who helped make it a success. Thank you to all our City team members who came together to connect and celebrate our accomplishments! Volunteer advocates will be provided with in-depth and ongoing training in dynamics of victimization and will gain direct experience in providing support to people in need. They will also gain knowledge about law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Participation will enhance community responsiveness to victims of crime. You can reduce the cost of visits to the doctor by utilizing DispatchHealth if you are on the City's health plan! Visit Inside Arvada to learn more. UMR and the City of Arvada have partnered with Dispatch Health to provide you with this amazing health benefit that is covered by our insurance plan: On-demand urgent care, in the comfort of your home, work, or place of need! DispatchHealth is bringing back the house call using board-certified doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and EMTs who are equipped to treat a wide range of injuries and illnesses. Dispatch Health brings the same healthcare providers you would see in your local Emergency Room right to your door. If you are enrolled in the Traditional plan, the service is covered as an urgent care copay, so that means a $50 copay– not a $300 Emergency Room copay. If you are enrolled in the High Deductible plan, you will pay 100% of the discounted, contracted amount up to your deductible–but it will be a lower out-of-pocket cost than an Urgent Care or Emergency Room visit. If you have questions, email Benefits Specialist Leesha Neuhold at [EMAIL REDACTED]. Vibrant Community & Neighborhoods Work System Forestry Department participates in internal aerial rescue training workshop On July 25, the City of Arvada’s Forestry Department held an internal aerial rescue training workshop. The team practiced three different scenarios, one of which involved an incapacitated climber. The rescuer had to climb into the tree and safely lower the victim to the ground without any assistance from ground personnel. It is important to practice a scenario like this because removing an unconscious victim from a tree requires the development of a very different skill set than climbing a tree to prune it. The aerial rescue training workshop is another example of how the Parks Department is committed to a culture of workplace safety.
