Licenses and Permitting for the City of Arvada Following is a general outline of licenses and permits typically required for contractors prior to initiating work on City of Arvada projects. Specific requirements will vary based on project scope. Licenses and Permits administered by the BUILDING DEPARTMENT 1. A Contractors License is required for any contractor working in the City of Arvada. a. A Building Permit is required for anything constructed above grade, i.e. a restroom enclosure or park shelter. b. Additional permits may be required for miscellaneous project elements such as fences or retaining walls. The need for these permits will be determined during the application process for the building permit. 2.
