Vibrant Community & Neighborhoods Work System Gold Strike Park Survey #1 Results Earlier this year, the Gold Strike Park project team asked the community to help shape the future of Gold Strike Park. Residents told us about the importance of restoring the natural beauty of Gold Strike Park, improving access to the confluence of Ralston and Clear Creek, celebrating the history of the site, and ensuring the park is safe and clean. More than 300 residents completed the Gold Strike Park community survey to help the City design a great gathering and play place for families and community members. Visit the project page on the City’s website for a full summary of survey and stay tuned for the second round of engagement coming soon! Hosts will be available at each garden to share how they transformed their space to benefit pollinators, how they overcame challenges, what plants they selected, and the highlights of having a pollinator-friendly outdoor space. This year’s tour includes seven gardens, ranging in size from small patio gardens to large community gardens. Join us to find inspiration for your outdoor space and see how small changes can add up to big impacts for critically important pollinators! Community and Economic Development Work System Team Members Volunteer to Reconstruct Pedestrian Bridge The Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council (CCICC) hosts an event each year called Wilderness on Wheels (WOW). Volunteers sign up to help repair buildings and structures used for the public that are in need of a little love. This year, the event took place in Grant/Kenosha Pass on July 15. Three City of Arvada staff members including Justin Clark, Nathan Romero and Isaac Romero, volunteered their time (along with spouses and other volunteers) to help work on a highly used but dilapidated public walking bridge. They reconstructed portions of the boardwalk including load bearing posts, concrete caissons, joists, beams, decking and handrails and left it in much better condition than how they found it. If you or anyone you know is willing to volunteer their time, or for additional information, please contact Nathan Romero. Thanks team for your hard work!
