Honda Center Enhancement Project Draft EIR City of Anaheim Page 9-1 9. Significant Irreversible Changes Due to the Proposed Project Section 15126.2(c) of the CEQA Guidelines requires that an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) describe any significant irreversible environmental changes that would be caused by the Proposed Project should it be implemented. The project consists of only minor physical modifications to an existing facility, in addition to an increase in the number of events held at the facility. However, these modifications would involve minor construction activities that would entail the commitment of some nonrenewable and/or slowly renewable energy sources such as lumber and other forest products, sand and gravel, asphalt, steel, copper, lead, other metal, and water. The project would also require an increased commitment of public maintenance services sewer, water, solid waste, and natural gas services). Such commitments are currently required for the operation of the existing facility but would be increased due to the additional yearly attendance at Honda Center events. While not irreversible, and not requiring new infrastructure beyond planned improvements, the increased commitment of public maintenance services would be a long-term obligation. Implementation of the Proposed Project would maintain the long-term commitment of the land as a world class sports and entertainment facility. Considering the previous investment in the Project Site, the probability that it will revert to a less intense land use requiring less services, energy, or physical resources in the future is unlikely. ---PAGE BREAK--- 9.
