The District Neighborhood Council is part of the Anaheim Neighbor- hood Improvement Program that uses an inter-departmen- tal approach to improve the livability of Anaheim’s neigh- borhoods. Utilizing the Neighborhood Improvement Program, neigh- borhood improvement is accomplished by creating part- nerships between neighborhood “stakeholders” (City de- partments, residents, property owners, school officials, the religious community, business community and non- profit organizations). This partnership develops a long term vision for your neighborhood’s success! Neighborhood Councils bring people together, provide useful information and help you find ways to participate in your community. Neighborhood Council Meetings are held quarterly in Jan- uary, April, July and October. Volunteer as a Clean-Up Campaign Coordinator and help make a difference in your neighborhood! The City of Anaheim provides large dumpster bins to a neighborhood once annually upon request for a neighborhood clean-up campaign. For this pur- pose, a neighborhood is defined as a minimum of four streets. The neigh- borhood clean-up campaign provides residents an opportunity to dispose of large items that do not fit in conventional trash containers. Prior to a neighborhood clean-up campaign, a resident volunteer will serve as the clean-up campaign coordinator. The clean-up campaign coordinator is responsible for: • Determining where bins will be placed. • Organizing a group of volunteers (minimum of one per bin) to monitor the bins during the clean-up. • Distributing flyers provided by Neighborhood Services Division advertising the clean-up to residents throughout the neighborhood. • Contacting Anaheim Disposal to request change outs. • Coordinating a training session for volunteers, offered by Neighborhood Services Staff.
