APPENDIX 1 Development and Tree Preservation in Anaheim’s "Scenic Corridor Overlay Zone" Specimen trees of the Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus), Quercus (Oak), Schinus (Pepper), and Platanus (Sycamore) varieties which are located in the eastern portion of the City known as the "Scenic Corridor Overlay Zone", are protected under Anaheim’s Municipal Code Section 18.84.038. All development within Anaheim’s Scenic Corridor involving specimen trees of the above-mentioned species, must follow the provisions of Section 18.84.038. All Plans for development in the Scenic Corridor, which may affect specimen trees, will be reviewed by the City’s Urban Forestry Section during the project approval process. The Urban Forestry Section will advise the Planning Department on all specimen tree related issues. Should protected specimen trees not approved for removal be located adjacent to or within the boundaries of a proposed project, the Urban Forestry Section shall determine the tree protection measures which must be followed by the developer during the construction process. The measures may include, but are not limited to, either or both of the following: A. The establishment of a tree protection zone around individual trees or groups of trees. The developer will be required to erect a temporary construction fence around the protected tree(s), which delineates a zone where no construction or vehicle traffic will be permitted. B. A requirement that the tree(s) be pruned as a condition of the development. Guidelines for the pruning of the tree(s), either root pruning or crown pruning, to be performed by the developer under the direction of an I.S.A. (International Society of Arboriculture). Certified Arborist using the standards established by I.S.A. To insure compliance, regular inspections by the City’s Urban Forestry Section will be performed on construction sites, where tree protection measures have been required. Answers to specific tree related questions might be obtained by calling the City’s Urban Forestry Section at (714) 765-6920. ---PAGE BREAK--- APPENDIX 1 Development and Tree Preservation in Anaheim’s "Scenic Corridor Overlay Zone" Specimen trees of the Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus), Quercus (Oak), Schinus (Pepper), and Platanus (Sycamore) varieties which are located in the eastern portion of the City known as the "Scenic Corridor Overlay Zone", are protected under Anaheim’s Municipal Code Section 18.84.038.
