CITY OF ANAHEIM DRAINAGE MANUAL FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE DRAINAGE FACILITIES INTRODUCTION 1 AUGUST 2005 INTRODUCTION PURPOSE The City of Anaheim is actively engaged in the improvement and maintenance of its public works facilities and infrastructure. The City’s Department of Public Works is responsible for efforts to improve its public facilities. Individual efforts include the design and construction of storm drainage facilities within the City to provide a consistent level of flood protection across the City. This Drainage Manual is presented as a tool to build on the City’s continuing efforts to enhance safety and durability of its public facilities. The objective of the Drainage Manual for Public and Private Drainage Facilities is to provide a concise, formalized guide for the analysis, design and construction of drainage facilities in the City of Anaheim. This guide is intended to be used by engineers, designers, developers, and contractors in both public and private service. The mission of the manual is to: • Issue policies of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Design of storm drainage facilities • Distinguish between City policies that are specific to public drainage facility projects and those that apply to private storm drain improvements. • To consolidate the drainage parameters outlined in Appendix A with the other drainage criteria adopted by the City. USE OF THIS MANUAL The format of this manual is designed to expedite preparation of storm drainage facility design and construction documents. The manual consists of four divisions. Each Division of the manual builds on the previous Division(s). The user of this manual must understand and comply with each Division in the design and construction of storm drain facilities within the City of Anaheim. Each Division is organized to consolidate the information needed to identify the relevant drainage design criteria for public and private drainage improvement projects as outlined below. Division I—Orange County Hydrology Manual Revisions, Deletions, and Additions The City of Anaheim has adopted the Orange County Hydrology Manual (including addendums) as the governing manual for hydrologic analysis within the City of Anaheim except as modified in Division I. An understanding of the criteria presented in the Orange County Hydrology Manual (OCHM) is necessary for the competent preparation of hydrologic studies in the City of Anaheim. Therefore, the current OCHM and its addendums shall be considered the governing document for hydrologic analysis in the City for all data, methods, parameters and standards not specifically modified in Division ---PAGE BREAK---
