Title VI is a Law YOUR RIGHTS UNDER TITLE VI & RELATED LAWS CITY OF ANAHEIM This publication will be made available in alternate formats upon request by calling the City of Anaheim, Department of Public Works at (714) 765-6803. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs, services, and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Title VI says you must be treated the same as others. Your race, color or national origin do not matter, nor does it matter if you speak another language or come from another country. Federally assisted programs apply to broad and diverse areas such as law enforcement, parks and recreation, public transportation, employment and job training, housing and community development. The City of Anaheim receives federal funding to repair and build roads, support communities, provide safety through programs and services offered. The City of Anaheim contracts out some of the programs, services, and activities and those companies must also follow the law. If you feel you were discriminated or excluded from participation on the basis of your race, color or national origin write a complaint letter. Provide as much detail as possible, date and sign the complaint within 180 calendar days of the alleged incident. Please provide your name, address and phone number.
