COUNTY OF ALPINE EXTRA HELP-ROAD MAINTENANCE SEASONAL Under the supervision of the Road Foreman and/or Lead Maintenance worker, performs a variety of work in the maintenance, repair and cleaning of County roads; and other duties as assigned. Emphasis is on the performance of routine, unskilled tasks. Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  Maintenance and repair of roads and ancillary structures to include pothole patching, culvert cleaning, removal of trees, rocks and other debris from roadways  Flagging (training will be provided)  Crack fill operations  Sign and guide post repair and replacement  Ditch cleaning and mowing  Site clearing (trees and brush)  Washout repair and cleanup Physical Requirements: Requires the mobility and stamina to exert continuous physical effort in a field environment. Ability to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach while performing field work; lift and/or move up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools and controls. Tasks require visual and sound perception and discrimination, and oral communications ability. Other Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a gas or diesel pickup truck in a safe manner. Knowledge of tools and equipment commonly used in construction and maintenance work. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Read and write at a level required for successful job performance. Keep simple records neatly and accurately. Maintain a working relationship with those contacted in the course of the work. Deal tactfully with the public.
