AGENDA TRANSMITTAL TO: Board of Supervisors FROM: Teola Tremayne, County Clerk DATE OF MEETING: December 6, 2016 PREPARED BY: Teola Tremayne, County Clerk TITLE: Request that the Board of Supervisors Declare the Results of the Canvass of Vote for the November 8, 2016 Consolidated Presidential General Election, per the Statement of Votes Cast, to which the certificate is attached. SUMMARY: Pursuant to Elections Code 15372, I have prepared a certified statement of the results of the election and hereby submit it to the governing body. Pursuant to Elections Code 15400, the governing body shall declare elected or nominated to each office voted on at each election under its jurisdiction the person having the highest number of votes for that office. The governing board shall also declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction as to each measure voted on at the election. I am requesting the Board of Supervisors declare the results as set forth in the attached copy of the Statement of Votes Cast for the Consolidated Presidential General Election held on November 8, 2016. The E+3 ballots were counted on November 17, 2016 by the Election Canvassing Board along with the 1% Manual Tally. Due to an error in the printing of the ballot timing marks, each District was hand- counted by the Election Canvassing Board. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Declare elected or nominated to each office voted on the person having the highest number of votes for that office and declare each measure voted on having the highest number of yes or no votes to have passed or failed in Alpine County.
