Wildfires are becoming more frequent, more destructive, and more deadly than ever. Alpine County is in one of the most fire prone areas in California. It is critical that our community is prepared to respond to a fire when the need arises. Alpine County Government invites you to participate in a presentation and panel discussion surrounding the threat of wildfire in our community. Supervisor Doug Teeter and Sheriff Kory Honea from Butte County will speak about their experiences with the devastating Camp Fire. Alpine County Sheriff Rick Stephens will speak about the process for evacuations in Alpine County. Representatives from Alpine County Public Health, Eastern Alpine Fire, California Highway Patrol, CalFire, US Forest Service, and Liberty utilities will be present to discuss other important issues with respect to wildfire preparedness and response.
