NOTICE OF VACANCY ALPINE COUNTY ADVISORY REDISTRICTING COMMISSION 2020 CENSUS REDISTRICTING Notice is hereby given that there are seven public member vacancies to be filled on the Alpine County Advisory Redistricting Commission – 2020 Census Redistricting. A member from each district will be appointed, but no more than two members from the same district. The Alpine County Board of Supervisors is requesting applications for appointments. Per EC§23002. A local jurisdiction may establish by resolution or ordinance an independent redistricting commission or an advisory redistricting commission composed of residents of the local jurisdiction to change the legislative body’s district boundaries or to recommend to the legislative body changes to those district boundaries. The Board of Supervisors may appoint a committee composed of residents of the county to study the matter of changing the boundaries of the supervisorial districts. The committee shall make its report to the board of its findings on the need for change of boundaries, and the recommended changes considering the following factors: topography, geography, cohesiveness, contiguity, integrity and compactness of territory, and community of interests of the districts. Recommendations of the committee are advisory only. The boundaries of the supervisorial districts shall be adjusted by the Board of Supervisors before December 15, 2021 by ordinance. The Board of Supervisors will make appointments during a regular Board meeting. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
