STATE ROUTE 4 CORRIDOR FROM JUNCTION SR 89 TO EBBETTS Residents must have proof of residence (ID or utility bill) to bypass the State Route 89 road closure. State Route 89 will remain closed and only accessible for Residents in the area. Residents are recommended to use extreme caution when re-entering the area. The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central California and western Nevada, including the following areas, in east central California, Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Mono County. In western Nevada, Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Greater Reno-Carson City- Minden Area. * Until 9 PM PDT this evening. * Slow moving hybrid type thunderstorms could produce short periods of heavy rainfall over steeper terrain in and around past/current burn scars. * Recently burned areas from the Tamarack fire between US395 and CA89 in and around the communities of Spring Valley and Holbrook Junction could be most impacted by locally heavy rainfall and flooding. SANDBAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALPINE COUNTY FIRE STATIONS 91 & 92 FOR RESIDENTS. DATE: July 25, 2021 RE: Evacuee Access & Escorts FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office are providing escorts for residents located in the evacuation area to secure pets, papers and emergency items. Escorts will take place from 9:30 AM – 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 5 PM on July 25, 2021. Locations in the evacuation area are dependent on fire activity. Additional escorts on future dates will be determined by fire activity. If you are interested in receiving an escort to your residence please proceed to the Nevada/California Stateline located on Foothill Rd. DATE: July 24, 2021 RE: Mandatory Evacuation Lifted in Mesa Vista FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ALPINE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS REMOVED THE MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS: 1. MESA VISTA RESIDENTS MUST HAVE PROOF OF RESIDENCE (ID OR UTILITY BILL) WITH THE RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS TO BYPASS THE ROAD CLOSURE. HIGHWAY 88 WILL REMAIN CLOSED AND ONLY RESIDENTS FROM THE MESA VISTA AREA MAY ENTER. DATE July 22, 2021 RE: Evacuee Access & Escorts 9:00 AM FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office are providing escorts for residents located in the evacuation area to secure pets, papers and emergency items. Escorts will take place from 9:30 AM – 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 5 PM on July 22, 2021. Locations in the evacuation area are dependent on fire activity. Additional escorts on future dates will be determined by fire activity. If you are interested in receiving an escort to your residence please proceed to the Nevada/California Stateline located on Foothill Rd. 9:05 AM UPDATE--AT THIS TIME ACCESS TO SPRINGS AND WEST FORK TERRACE IS UNAVAILABLE DUE TO FIRE ACTIVITY DATE July 21, 2021 5:20 p.m. The Alpine County Sheriff Office has released a statement lifting Saturday’s evacuation order for the Hung A Lel Ti Community only. This Tribal notification does not apply to non-Tribal members. At this time Hung A Lel Ti residents may choose to begin returning to their homes. However, if you have checked out of your hotel, you will not be able to return to the hotel. Please notify the EOC by phone or text at (775)430-0345 We ask that the Hung A Lel Ti residents clearly understand and consider the following safety and welfare concerns: •The Tribal EOC will continue to provide safe and secure evacuation lodging to the best of its ability until the current threats from the Tamarack Fire have been completed mitigated. If residents desire to remain in EOC lodging, they are asked not to check out of their current motel rooms. •The Tribal EOC strongly discourages Elders and others with special needs from returning to the Community at this time, especially given the continuing possibility of re-evacuation. If these residents choose to return, please notify the Tribal EOC so assistance might be arranged, if possible, should a re-evacuation be ordered ---PAGE BREAK--- •All returning Hung A Lel Ti residents do so at their own risk. •While Liberty Utilities has restored electrical power to the Community, Liberty reminds us that Public Power Safety Shutoffs (PPSS’s) or other power interruptions might occur again at any time. •Similarly, road closures and other travel restrictions in California or Nevada might be imposed at any time. •The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team coordinating all fire-fighting efforts is urging our Tribal members to be aware that the Tamarack Fire is not contained and that returning residents must be prepared to re-evacuate on short notice. – End Statement. UPDATE July 20, 2021 6:30 PM The following areas are under mandatory evacuation. Markleeville, Grover Hot Springs and campground area, Shay Creek, Marklee Village, Alpine Village, Woodfords, East Fork Resort and Hung A Lel Ti, Blue Lakes Rd., Upper & Lower Blue Lakes and Mesa Vista. Alpine County in collaboration with Douglas County and Douglas County Community Services established an evacuation shelter at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center located at 1329 Waterloo Ln., Gardnerville, NV 89410. It is recommended that any evacuees needing shelter, food or supplies go to the location and register. Additionally, anyone looking for information on evacuees should check in at the registration desk. ---PAGE BREAK---
