ALPINE COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SIGNS REQUIRED AT PUBLIC SPAS 1. “WARNING - NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY”  Required where no lifeguard service is provided.  Letters must be at least 4 inches high.  Sign must be placed in plain view of those entering pool area 2. ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION PROCEDURES  Must have illustrated diagrams with instructions.  Must be posted within the pool enclosure and be clearly visible. 3. EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS  Shall have “911” number as a minimum.  Instructions to commence and continue artificial respiration, if necessary.  Must be clearly posted within pool enclosure and adjacent to a nearby telephone, if one exists. 4. WARNING SIGN FOR SPA USE  Must have clearly legible letters.  Shall be posted in a prominent place near the entrance to the spa.  Shall contain the following language. “CAUTION” 1. Elderly persons, pregnant women, infants and those with health conditions requiring medical care should consult with a physician before entering a spa. 2. Unsupervised use by children under the age of 14 is prohibited. 3. Hot water immersion while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, drugs, or medicines may lead to serious consequences and is not recommended. 4. Do not use alone. 5. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting 5. OCCUPANT LOAD SIGN  Must have clearly legible letters or numbers not less than 4“ high.  Must be posted in a conspicuous place near entrance(s).  Shall indicate the maximum numbers of occupants permitted for each pool. Occupant capacity limit is based on the minimum of 10 sq. ft. of spa pool surface area per person. ALL REQUIRED SIGNS SHALL BE PROTECTED AGAINST THE ELEMENTS AND BE MAINTAINED IN A LEGIBLE MANNER.
