Berry Street/Suite 180 FORT WAYNE, INDIANA 46802-1299 PHONE: (260) 449-7131 Joseph Hutter, Allen County Indiana Building Commissioner ATTENTION HEATING CONTRACTORS PULLING KITCHEN HOOD PERMITS When pulling a heating permit to install kitchen hood systems, the following guidelines will apply when scheduling a "Grease Duct Light Test" inspection: 1. A minimum lOOw or lOOw equivalent light bulb without a solid guard needs to be installed. 2. All ducts and fitting seams welded in contractor shop shall be light tested by the contractor prior to being delivered to the job site. 3. All welds done on job site shall have a light test and any holes found will need welded prior to inspector arriving at the job site. 4. When inspector arrives at job site, the light, extension cords and ladders shall be ready for inspection. 5. Grease duct inspections shall be performed prior to overhead installation. Inspections requested post installation is subject to penalty due to amount of time required compared to pre-installation inspection. Any procedure that fails may be subject to a penalty and possibly subject to a re-scheduling of inspection.
