AB - 1 ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS ALEXANDER COUNTY BETHLEHEM AREA SEWER SYSTEM EXTENSION – BOWMAN CT PS Sealed bids for the project entitled ARP Water and Sewer Infrastructure Project will be received by Alexander County until 2:00 p.m. local time on January 30, 2024, Conference Room of the Alexander County Services Center at 151 W Main Ave, Taylorsville, North Carolina 28681. At said place and time, all Bids that have been duly received, will be publicly opened and read aloud. The project generally consists of the construction of a new submersible sewer pump station on the east side of Bowman Court in the Bethlehem community of Alexander County. The submersible pump station will be equipped with a precast concrete wetwell, two pumps, diesel driven emergency generator, gravel access driveway, and necessary electrical equipment. The pump station will discharge through an 8-inch force main, extending approximately 6,500 linear feet along Bowman Court and Rink Dam Road to the existing gravity sewer at Chigger Ridge Road. A gravity sewer manhole will be constructed just outside the station to accept future flows from economic development projects. Design plans for the force main portion of this project, previously prepared by Shabeldeen Engineering and McKim & Creed dated January 2020, will be utilized for construction of the project. A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 a.m. local time on January 12, 2024 in the Conference Room of the Alexander County Services Center at 151 W Main Ave, Taylorsville, North Carolina 28681. Interested parties should attend this meeting to receive bidding information. Bidder qualifications, as described in Article 3 of the Instructions to Bidders, are required to be submitted with the Bid. Bidders are encouraged to inquire about minimum qualifications before purchasing Bidding Documents. Prospective bidders must register and obtain an official set of the Bidding Documents. Digital copies of Bidding Documents are available for purchase for a fee of $100.00 per set through Quest by visiting www.mcgillbidline.com. These documents may be downloaded by selecting the project and finding the appropriate Quest Project Number. Bids received from Bidders who are not registered planholders with the Engineer will not be accepted or opened. For assistance and free membership registration, contact at (952) 233-1632 or Neither the Owner nor the Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including any Addenda, obtained from any source other than the Engineer and their representative plan provider, Each Bidder shall be responsible for the review of all addenda for the project and shall acknowledge the addenda on the bid form. Bidders must comply with the requirements of the State of North Carolina and be appropriately licensed as a Contractor as provided in General Statutes Chapter 87. Each bid shall be accompanied with a cash deposit or certified check drawn on a bank or trust company insured by the FDIC or a Bid Bond prepared on the form of Bid Bond contained in the Bidding Documents or a Surety Company’s standard form and properly executed by a corporate surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds. The amount of the bid ---PAGE BREAK--- AB - 2 bond shall be equal to five percent of the total of the bid. The bid deposit shall be retained by the Owner if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract or fails to provide the required bonds, as stated above, within ten (10) days after the proper notice of award of the contract. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all Bids, to waive informalities, or to reject non- conforming, non-responsive, or conditional bids. The Owner reserves the right to award a contract to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder or bidders, taking into consideration quality, performance and time. Contractors submitting a Bid on this project must solicit bids from minority subcontractors and provide documentation of any outreach efforts as required by the Special Conditions Packages. Bidders must comply with the President's Executive Order No. 11246 as amended, which prohibits discrimination in employment regarding race, creed, color, sex or national origin. Bidders must comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Anti-Kickback Act, the Contract Work Hours Standard Act, and 40 CFR 33.1016, and 40 CFR 60-4.
