CITY OF ALBANY COMMON COUNCIL 24 EAGLE STREET, ROOM 206 ALBANY, NEW YORK 12207 TELEPHONE (518) 434-5087 * * NEWS RELEASE * * Date: January 6, 2021 Contact: Michele Andre Senior Legislative Aide [PHONE REDACTED]/[EMAIL REDACTED] ALBANY COMMON COUNCIL STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING STORMING OF THE US CAPITOL ALBANY, NY – The Albany Common Council released the following statement in response to the current aggressions by protestors in the US Capitol: “We are extremely concerned with the violence and destruction that is going on in our Nation’s Capitol. This type of behavior is very undemocratic, illegal, and an attack on our democracy. Many have died and pledged their lives to defend our country and constitution. We stand in support with our Mayor and the sentiments that were shared earlier this evening. As we face a historical pandemic and are watching millions of people die around the world this is unacceptable and we need to come together, honor the process, and restore civility. Many investigations have been conducted and have produced no evidence of voter fraud and now it is time for bipartisan healing and the restoration of the democratic process. Let there be peace on earth and in our nation.”
