Jamila Adams is an Albany native who graduated from Bishop Maginn High School class of 1998. She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, in Atlanta, GA with a major in Criminal Justice and Averett University, Danville, VA, with a MBA in Business Administration. Her career goal was to be a criminal defense attorney. She worked for the Fulton County District Attorney in Atlanta, Georgia and then moved to Virginia working as a Office Manager for Bright Horizons in VA of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Richmond, VA. In her spare time she managed a DJ and partnered with LuxxLife Entertainment promoting a nightlife scene. Her career path took a sudden change for her when her father unexpectedly passed away while in the beginning stages of starting a venture on his bucket list, a neighborhood bar, which would be now known as Johnnie’s on Broadway. Instead of letting her father’s dream end, she moved back to Albany and started where he left off. Since then the community has helped Johnnie’s on Broadway to stand strong and she continues to keep striving and do small things in the community. She stands behind a saying “we are stronger as community together than we are divided.”
