For the past several years, each year had many record breaking 5 year low numbers. Thus far, 2020 continues this trend by being below 2019 for 5 months and beating the five year low for 4 months. Currently, 2020 has a total crime decrease of 11% which stemmed from the consistent decrease in larcenies. The following graphs will depict each crime type. In 2019, rape numbers vary greatly between month to month due to the low volume of reports. In 2020, May had a spike in numbers. Similar to shooting victim numbers, confirmed shots fired has seen record breaking high numbers in 2020, with the exception of March below the average high but above the average 5 year. In 2020, Feburary, March, and April numbers were generally equivalent or less than the 5 year low numbers, making it the new 5 year low. The volume of incidents in 2020 is fairly simiar to 2019. Dips in volume can be seen in May and June of 2020. 2020 represents a slight decrease for 2 years after an apex in 2017. April through August of 2020 saw record breaking months as it set the new 5 year low.
