POLICING COLLAB MEETING #5 – SEPTEMBER 15, 2020 1. From Jill Peckenpaugh, USCRI to Everyone: 06:30 PM Did you mention which unit focuses on gangs? 2. From Ava Ayers (she/her) to Everyone: 06:32 PM Does "calls for service" including all 911 calls, or only calls that request/prompt police involvement specifically? 3. From Brendan McCann- City of Albany, Case Manager to Everyone: 06:34 PM Do you attribute the increase in shootings to circumstances realted to COVID or are there circumstances that are making it worse? 4. From aden suchak to Everyone: 06:34 PM Is there a breakdown of what the calls for service are? Ex. Mental Health/Domestic Violence etc 5. For instance all the calls to first street before the incident occurred there. Or is this a problem with follow up with other departments? 6. From Robert L. Are these call unable to be placed into a meaningful category? They make up almost 50% of the data. 8. Has APD considered a procedure of that nature? 13. What are some actions that can get an officer fired...not paid leave or administrative duty but actually terminated from the department? 16. From Nairobi Vives to Everyone: 07:16 PM Chief Hawkins, in a different meeting regarding the South Pearl Street Incident in June, you made a statement that the Police Union at times interferes with your ultimate decision to discipline officers. Please elaborate/explain and explain how you plan to deal with this issue. 19. From aden suchak to Everyone: 07:19 PM Can you explain why incidents like the 1st Street Incident or the recent incident of the unlawful arrest and assault on South Pearl go to the internal affairs division and are handled privately? Do you think this kind of process promotes community trust and safety?
